I hope people feel something when they see my art. Whether that be a feeling of loss, a recognizable sensation of pain, sadness, or longing, I hope to create a moment that is both deeply personal and simultaneously ambiguous enough for the viewer to connect with as well.
ABOUT
LINDA WALLENTINE
Linda Wallentine is an artist and creative writer currently living in New Jersey. She is a graduate of Lesley University's College of Art and Design with a Bachelor of Fine Arts and a minor in Creative Writing.
In her artistic practice, she is predominately interested in exploring facets of the human experience. Working mostly in oil pastels, charcoal, and gouache, she uses expressive mark-making and carefully chosen colors to create intimate self-portraits. These pieces often reflect on her own emotional and physical experiences, such as her struggles with depression, anxiety, and insomnia.
Through this process, she attempts to evoke emotional states-of-being as a means to connect with others and better understand her own feelings. She also hopes to inspire fearless expression and advocate for the importance of mental health. Her work has thus become a sort of visual diary - a private, yet public record of intensely felt emotions and experiences. By sharing her own moments of vulnerability, she hopes others might feel less alone in their own lives.
